Vibriosis

Vibriosis is an infection caused by bacteria called Vibrio, which are commonly found in warm seawater and shellfish. People can get sick after eating contaminated seafood or swimming in polluted water, leading to symptoms such as diarrhea, stomach cramps, fever, and vomiting. In some cases, especially in individuals with weakened immune systems or liver disease, the infection can become more severe, causing skin infections or bloodstream infections. Prevention involves cooking seafood thoroughly, practicing good hygiene, and avoiding swimming in potentially contaminated waters. Vibriosis is usually treatable with antibiotics, but prompt medical attention is important to prevent complications.
