Việt Minh

The Việt Minh was a Vietnamese nationalist and communist-led independence movement founded in 1941 to oppose French colonial rule and Japanese occupation during World War II. It aimed to establish a unified, independent Vietnam. Led by Ho Chi Minh, the Việt Minh mobilized guerrilla tactics and garnered widespread support among Vietnamese people. After Japan's surrender in 1945, the Việt Minh declared independence, leading to the First Indochina War against France. Their efforts ultimately resulted in the Geneva Accords of 1954, which divided Vietnam and set the stage for further conflict. The Việt Minh played a key role in Vietnam’s struggle for sovereignty.
