VHL (Von Hippel-Lindau)
Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) is a rare genetic condition caused by a mutation in the VHL gene, which normally helps control cell growth. This mutation leads to abnormal growths, called tumors, in various parts of the body such as the brain, spine, kidneys, and eyes. Some of these tumors can be benign (non-cancerous), but others may become malignant (cancerous). VHL is inherited, meaning it runs in families, but it can also occur spontaneously. Regular medical monitoring is essential for early detection and management of tumors, reducing potential health complications.
