Vestibular function testing
Vestibular function testing assesses how well your inner ear and brain work together to maintain balance and spatial orientation. The tests typically involve examining eye movements in response to specific stimuli, such as smooth eye movements or nystagmus, to detect abnormalities in balance signals. Common tests include the caloric test, where warm or cold water or air is introduced into the ear, and the VEMP test, which measures how your neck and eye muscles respond to sound stimuli. These evaluations help diagnose balance disorders, vertigo, or dizziness by identifying impairments in the vestibular system.
