Verghese Kurien

Verghese Kurien was an Indian social entrepreneur and engineer known as the "Father of the White Revolution." He pioneered India’s dairy development, establishing cooperative dairy farming to empower millions of farmers, especially small-scale producers. His vision transformed India from a milk-deficient country into one of the largest producers globally, improving livelihoods and nutrition. Kurien's work with the Gujarat-based Amul cooperative and the National Dairy Development Board revolutionized the dairy industry, promoting rural entrepreneurship, self-sufficiency, and gender equality.
