Ventricles

Ventricles are interconnected, fluid-filled cavities located within the brain. They produce and circulate cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which cushions the brain, removes waste, and maintains a stable environment. There are four main ventricles: two lateral ventricles, the third ventricle, and the fourth ventricle. These chambers help ensure the brain remains protected and properly functioning. The ventricles are also connected to the spinal canal, allowing CSF to flow throughout the central nervous system. Proper functioning of the ventricles is essential for maintaining brain health; abnormalities can lead to conditions such as hydrocephalus, where excess fluid builds up in the brain.
