Venous malformations
Venous malformations are abnormal clusters of veins present from birth that result from blood vessels developing improperly. These malformations can cause swelling, discoloration, and sometimes pain, often enlarging over time. Since they involve improperly formed veins, blood flow can be affected, leading to symptoms depending on their size and location. Venous malformations are generally not dangerous but may require medical evaluation and treatment, such as sclerotherapy or laser therapy, to reduce symptoms or improve appearance. They are a type of vascular anomaly and are distinct from blood clots or other vascular conditions.
