Vela Supernova 1054
The Vela Supernova Remnant is the aftermath of a massive star's explosion called a supernova, which occurred around 11,000–12,000 years ago. This explosion created a nebula—a glowing cloud of gas and dust—expanding outward at high speeds. The Vela supernova is part of the Vela constellation and is located about 800 light-years away. Its remnants include a neutron star, known as the Vela Pulsar, which emits regular beams of radiation. Studying this supernova helps scientists understand the life cycle of stars, the distribution of elements in space, and the dynamics of cosmic explosions.
