Varna classification
The Varna classification is an ancient Indian social system that divides society into four main groups based on roles and duties. These are: Brahmins (priests and scholars), Kshatriyas (warriors and rulers), Vaishyas (farmers, traders, and merchants), and Shudras (laborers and service providers). Each Varna has specific responsibilities, and this system historically organized social functions and professions. Over time, it became more rigid, influencing social relationships. Today, the concept is understood as a traditional framework that reflects societal roles, but modern India emphasizes equality and the abolition of caste-based discrimination.
