Valles Marineris

Valles Marineris is an enormous canyon system on Mars, stretching over 4,000 kilometers (about 2,500 miles), making it one of the largest in the solar system. It is up to 7 kilometers (around 4 miles) deep and up to 200 kilometers (125 miles) wide in parts. The canyon likely formed due to tectonic activity and volcanic processes, as the planet's crust stretched and cracked. Its vast size reveals extensive geological history, including past water activity, and it offers valuable insights into Mars' geological and climatic evolution.
