Valladolíd (now Morelia)
Valladolíd was the original name of the city now called Morelia, located in central Mexico. Founded in 1541 by Spanish colonists, it was named after Valladolid in Spain. The city is renowned for its well-preserved colonial architecture, including baroque churches and historic stone streets. In 1828, it was renamed Morelia in honor of Miguel Hidalgo, a leader of Mexico's independence movement. Today, Morelia is a UNESCO World Heritage site, recognized for its rich history, cultural heritage, and vibrant festivals that reflect centuries of Mexican tradition.
