Vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM)
Vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) is a manufacturing process used to create strong, lightweight composite parts. It involves laying dry reinforcement materials, like fibers or fabric, into a mold. A vacuum pump removes air and creates a pressure difference, drawing liquid resin into the mold and saturating the fibers uniformly. Once the resin cures and hardens, the part is removed. VARTM offers controlled resin flow, reduced waste, and cost-effective production of large or complex structures, making it popular in industries like aerospace, marine, and automotive manufacturing.
