Utricularia macrorhiza

Utricularia macrorhiza, commonly known as the large-leaved bladderwort, is a small aquatic or wetland plant that captures tiny animals for nutrition. It has submerged, non-photosynthetic parts called bladder traps with tiny openings that suck in nearby prey like small insects and critters when they come close. The plant’s leaves are often bushy and float on water or grow in moist soils. It lacks roots and relies on capturing prey for nutrients instead of absorbing from the soil. Found in North American wetlands, it plays a role in controlling aquatic invertebrate populations and contributes to the ecosystem's balance.
