UTM Zone

A UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) Zone is a way of dividing the Earth’s surface into 6-degree wide vertical strips, called zones, to help accurately pinpoint locations. Each zone has its own coordinate system, making maps and GPS navigation more precise. When you know the zone, you can better interpret or create maps for specific areas, like cities or regions. The zones run from 1 to 60 around the globe, starting at longitude 180° west and moving east. This system helps in various applications, including surveying, navigation, and GIS mapping.
