Ursus americanus
Ursus americanus, commonly known as the American black bear, is a large mammal native to North America. It has a robust body, strong limbs, and a short, rounded face, usually with black or dark brown fur, though color varies. These bears are omnivorous, feeding on berries, plants, insects, and small animals. They primarily inhabit forests but can also be found in mountainous regions and swamps. Black bears are generally solitary except during mating season or when a mother is raising cubs. They play an important role in their ecosystems by helping control populations of various species and dispersing seeds.
