Urethral Bulking Agents
Urethral bulking agents are materials injected into the tissue around the urethra, the tube that carries urine out of the bladder, to improve closure and prevent leakage. They are used to treat stress urinary incontinence, which occurs when physical activity causes urine leakage. The procedure involves injecting the bulking substance to help the urethra close more effectively. It is minimally invasive, usually performed in a doctor’s office, with relatively quick recovery. While not a cure for all cases, urethral bulking agents can significantly reduce leakage and improve quality of life for many patients.
