Ureteric stenting
Ureteric stenting is a medical procedure used to relieve blockages in the ureters, which are tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder. In interventional nephrology, a thin, flexible tube called a stent is placed inside the ureter. This helps keep the passage open, allowing urine to flow freely and preventing damage to the kidneys. The procedure is often performed when there is a kidney stone, tumor, or other obstruction. It is minimally invasive and can significantly improve kidney function and alleviate pain. The stent may be temporary or left in place for longer periods, depending on the situation.
