Renal Artery Stenosis
Renal artery stenosis is a condition where the arteries supplying blood to the kidneys become narrowed or blocked. This reduction in blood flow can decrease kidney function and lead to increased blood pressure. Often caused by hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis) or other vessel-related issues, it may not cause symptoms initially. If left untreated, it can result in additional kidney damage and uncontrolled hypertension. Diagnosis involves imaging tests, and treatment options include medication, lifestyle changes, or procedures to widen or bypass the narrowed arteries to restore adequate blood flow.
