Urea Cycle

The urea cycle is a natural process in the body that helps remove excess nitrogen, which comes from breaking down proteins in food. When proteins are digested, nitrogen is produced as a waste product called ammonia, which can be toxic if it builds up. The urea cycle converts ammonia into a safe substance called urea, which dissolves in the blood and is eventually excreted through urine by the kidneys. This cycle mainly occurs in the liver and is essential for maintaining the body's nitrogen balance and preventing harmful accumulation of waste.
