Ur III Dynasty

The Ur III Dynasty, also known as the Third Dynasty of Ur, was a powerful Sumerian ruling era in southern Mesopotamia around 2112-2004 BCE. Founded by King Ur-Nammu, it is notable for its centralized government, administrative organization, and contributions to law, including one of the earliest known legal codes. The dynasty fostered economic growth, temple-building, and cultural development, establishing a relatively stable and prosperous society. It is regarded as a golden age for Sumerians before the region was eventually overtaken by other powers.
