Untouchability Movement
The Untouchability Movement was a social reform effort in India aimed at ending the discrimination against Dalits, formerly called "Untouchables," who faced social exclusion, segregation, and injustice. Initiated in the early 20th century, leaders like Mahatma Gandhi promoted dignity, equality, and integration for Dalits, advocating for their rights through protests, education, and legal reforms. The movement sought to eradicate the deeply embedded caste-based prejudices, fostering social harmony and ensuring equal treatment and opportunities for all citizens regardless of their caste background.
