University of California Peer Counseling Program
The University of California Peer Counseling Program trains students to provide support and guidance to their peers on campus. These trained counselors offer a listening ear, helping students navigate challenges related to mental health, stress, academic pressures, and personal concerns. They do not provide therapy but create a safe, empathetic environment for peers to express themselves and access appropriate resources. The program aims to foster a supportive community, reduce stigma around mental health, and encourage students to seek help when needed, ultimately promoting overall well-being and resilience among the student body.
