Universal Grammar Theory
Universal Grammar (UG) is a theory proposed by linguist Noam Chomsky suggesting that the ability to acquire language is innate to humans. It posits that all human languages share a common underlying structure, and our brains are prewired with this knowledge. This helps children quickly learn complex languages despite limited exposure. Essentially, UG provides the mental framework that makes language learning possible, explaining similarities across diverse languages and supporting the idea that the capacity for language is a built-in part of human nature.
