United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor

The United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET) was a peacekeeping and governance operation established by the UN in 1999 to help East Timor recover from violence following its vote for independence from Indonesia. UNTAET managed security, helped restore order, and built institutions like government, legal system, and infrastructure. It aimed to guide East Timor towards independence, stability, and self-governance.
