United Front Work Department

The United Front Work Department (UFWD) is a Chinese government agency responsible for building and maintaining relationships with groups inside and outside China, including ethnic minorities, religious organizations, overseas Chinese communities, and political parties. Its goal is to promote the Chinese Communist Party's influence and policies by fostering unity, managing perceptions, and influencing foreign and domestic public opinion. The UFWD operates both domestically and internationally, often working behind the scenes to secure support, coordinate propaganda, and monitor potential sources of dissent that could challenge the party’s authority.
