Union of Belgian Neutrality
The Union of Belgian Neutrality was an agreement in 1831 where Belgium and the Netherlands pledged to keep Belgium neutral and avoid military conflicts in Europe. This pact aimed to prevent war and maintain peace by ensuring neither country would attack the other or seek to involve other nations in their disputes. However, this neutrality was tested during conflicts, notably when neighboring powers violated it, leading to the outbreak of the Belgian Revolution and the eventual recognition of Belgium's independence in 1839. The union represented a shared effort to uphold peace through agreed neutrality.
