unilateral neglect

Unilateral neglect is a neurological condition often resulting from a stroke or brain injury, where a person is unaware of or ignores one side of their environment, typically the side opposite the brain injury. For example, they might not eat food on one side of their plate, dress only one side of their body, or fail to notice objects or people on that side. This occurs because the brain’s attention system is impaired, not because of visual loss. It affects daily functioning and requires rehabilitation to help individuals regain awareness of their neglected side.
