Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act (UFTA)
The Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act (UFTA) is a law designed to prevent people from hiding their assets to avoid paying debts. It allows creditors to challenge transfers of property or money that a debtor makes if those transfers are intended to defraud creditors or if the debtor did not receive fair value in return. Essentially, if someone tries to shield their wealth from creditors by transferring it to others, the UFTA helps ensure that the creditor can still claim what they are owed by reversing those transfers.
