Unification of Italy

The Unification of Italy, completed in 1861, was a process that brought together separate Italian states and kingdoms into one unified nation. Prior to this, Italy was divided into multiple regions controlled by different powers, like Austria and France. Influenced by nationalist movements and leaders such as Garibaldi and Cavour, Italians sought independence and unity. Through diplomatic negotiations, military campaigns, and political efforts, these regions merged into a single, independent Kingdom of Italy, establishing a unified national identity and laying the foundation for the modern Italian state.
