UNASUR (Union of South American Nations)
UNASUR, or the Union of South American Nations, was established in 2008 to promote regional integration and cooperation among South American countries. It aimed to enhance political dialogue, economic collaboration, and social development across the continent. UNASUR focused on addressing common challenges, such as poverty, education, and security. However, the organization faced political tensions and divisions among member states, leading to decreased effectiveness and a decline in participation. By 2019, several countries announced their withdrawal, which significantly weakened UNASUR’s influence and operations in the region.
