Unabomber

The Unabomber was the nickname for Ted Kaczynski, a mathematician turned domestic terrorist who conducted a nationwide bombing campaign in the United States from 1978 to 1995. He targeted individuals involved with modern technology and industrial society, aiming to oppose its negative effects. Kaczynski sent bombs through the mail, killing three people and injuring others. He justified his actions through a manifesto criticizing technological progress. His attacks ended when he was captured in 1996 after his brother recognized his writing style and alerted authorities.
