UK Film Council
The UK Film Council was established in 2000 as a governmental body to support and promote the British film industry. It aimed to enhance the quality, reach, and financial viability of UK films by providing funding, developing talent, and boosting international partnerships. The Council supported various projects, from small independent films to larger productions, and worked to foster a sustainable film culture. In 2010, it was abolished and its functions were transferred to the British Film Institute, which continues the mission of supporting the UK’s dynamic film sector.
