UDRP (Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy)
The UDRP (Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy) is a process used to resolve disputes over domain names, primarily when someone registers a domain that’s similar to a trademark or well-known brand to potentially mislead or profit unfairly. Instead of going through courts, parties file a complaint with an approved dispute resolution provider, who reviews the case based on specific criteria: whether the domain was registered in bad faith, used to misleadingly exploit the trademark, or rights were unfairly infringed. This process aims to quickly and fairly resolve conflicts without lengthy litigation.
