Twelve Articles
The Twelve Articles were a list of demands made by peasants and farmers in 1525 during the German Peasants' War. They called for fair treatment, the abolition of harsh laws, reduction of taxes, and an end to noble dominance. The articles expressed a desire for religious reforms and greater local control, reflecting widespread dissatisfaction with feudal oppression. Though initially focused on social and economic issues, the demands also had religious elements, aligning with the growing Reformation movement. The Twelve Articles became a symbol of peasant resistance and aimed to promote justice and equality within the societal structure of the time.
