Tuscarora

The Tuscarora are a Native American people originally from the southeastern United States, primarily North Carolina. They are part of the Iroquoian language family and historically engaged in agriculture, hunting, and fishing. In the early 18th century, they migrated north to present-day New York to escape conflict and pressure from European settlers. Today, they are a recognized tribe with a reservation in New York State, maintaining their cultural traditions, language, and community. The Tuscarora played a significant role in regional history and continue to preserve their heritage within contemporary society.
