Tumor staging guidelines
Tumor staging is a system that categorizes cancer based on its size, location, and spread in the body. The most common system is the TNM system, which includes three components: 'T' for tumor size and local extent, 'N' for nearby lymph node involvement, and 'M' for whether the cancer has metastasized (spread to distant parts). Staging helps doctors determine the severity of the cancer, plan treatment options, and assess prognosis. Stages range from I (early stage) to IV (advanced stage), guiding patients and healthcare professionals in managing the disease effectively.
