TTX

TTX, or tetrodotoxin, is a powerful neurotoxin found primarily in certain marine animal species, such as pufferfish, octopus, and some types of frogs. It affects the nervous system by blocking sodium channels, which prevents nerves from sending signals. This can lead to paralysis and, in high doses, can be fatal. Despite its dangers, TTX is studied for potential medical uses, such as pain relief and treating neurological conditions. Due to its toxicity, consuming pufferfish and other TTX-containing animals requires skilled preparation to avoid poisoning.
