Trouvères
Trouvères were medieval poet-musicians from northern France, active during the 11th to 14th centuries. They composed and performed songs in the regional language, Old French, and often focused on themes of chivalry, love, and court life. Their work is similar to that of their southern counterparts, the troubadours, who wrote in Occitan. Trouvères played a significant role in the development of French poetry and music, influencing literature and culture during the Middle Ages. Their songs were typically performed in noble courts and often served to entertain and convey social values of the time.
