trocar
A trocar is a medical instrument used primarily in surgical procedures. It consists of a sharp-pointed metal tip, a hollow tube, and a cannula (a larger tube) that allows access to the body's cavities. Surgeons use it to create an opening in the body, often for minimally invasive surgeries, such as laparoscopy. By inserting the trocar through the skin, they can then insert other instruments or cameras to perform procedures without making large incisions, reducing recovery time and minimizing pain for patients.
