Triqui language
Triqui (or Trique) is a Mayan language spoken by the Triqui people in Oaxaca, Mexico. It belongs to the Mesoamerican linguistic family and has several dialects across different Triqui communities. The language features unique sounds and grammatical structures, including verb conjugations and systems to indicate tense and aspect. Triqui is primarily an oral language but also uses a Latin-based alphabet for writing. It plays a vital cultural role, transmitting traditions and identity among its speakers, many of whom are bilingual in Spanish. Efforts are ongoing to preserve and promote Triqui amid broader language loss pressures.
