Treaty on European Union (Maastricht Treaty)

The Treaty on European Union, commonly known as the Maastricht Treaty, was signed in 1992 and established the European Union (EU) as we know it today. It aimed to promote closer political and economic integration among member countries. Key achievements included the introduction of a single currency, the Euro, and the establishment of EU citizenship, allowing people to live and work anywhere in the EU. The treaty also set out the framework for common foreign and security policies, as well as justice and home affairs cooperation, fostering greater unity and collaboration among European nations.
