Treaty of Zadar
The Treaty of Zadar, signed in 1348, was an agreement between the Republic of Venice and the Kingdom of Hungary. It marked Venice’s transfer of control over Dalmatian cities previously held by the Hungarian crown, in exchange for financial compensation. This treaty effectively ended Venice's disputes with Hungary over this region, consolidating Venice’s influence along the Adriatic coast. It reflected the shifting balance of power in the area and helped Venice expand its maritime empire, while Hungary lost its territorial claims in Dalmatia.
