Treaty of Triannon
The Treaty of Trianon, signed in 1920, was one of the agreements that concluded World War I, specifically addressing Hungary's borders. It drastically reduced Hungary's size and population, losing about two-thirds of its territory, which was redistributed to neighboring countries like Romania, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia. This treaty aimed to weaken Hungary, but it led to significant national resentment and economic hardships. The loss of land also meant many ethnic Hungarians found themselves living outside Hungary's new borders. The treaty continues to influence Hungarian politics and identity even today.
