Treaty of Jeddah

The Treaty of Jeddah, signed in 1927, was an agreement between the United Kingdom and the newly established Kingdom of Nejd (later part of Saudi Arabia). It recognized Ibn Saud's sovereignty over his territory in exchange for promises to maintain peace, avoid hostilities, and respect international interests in the region. The treaty effectively acknowledged Saudi independence while ensuring stability and cooperation with British interests, especially regarding trade and regional security. It laid the groundwork for formal diplomatic relations and helped legitimize Ibn Saud's rule in the international community.
