Transcendence and Immanence

Transcendence refers to the idea that God exists beyond and independent from the physical universe; God is beyond human comprehension and experience. Immanence, on the other hand, suggests that God is present and active within the world and in the lives of individuals. In philosophical theology, these concepts help explore the nature of God: whether God is a distant creator or intimately involved in creation. Balancing transcendence and immanence allows for a richer understanding of the divine, highlighting both God’s grandeur and closeness to humanity.
