Transactional Model of Stress
The Transactional Model of Stress explains that stress arises from the ongoing relationship between an individual and their environment. When facing a potential challenge, a person evaluates (or "appraises") whether the situation is threatening or manageable. If it’s seen as overwhelming, stress occurs. This model emphasizes that stress isn’t just about the event itself, but also how we interpret and respond to it. Our thoughts, feelings, and perceptions influence how stressful a situation feels, making stress a dynamic process involving both the external event and our internal response.
