Traité de Lisbonne

The Traité de Lisbonne (Lisbon Treaty) is an international agreement that amends the European Union's founding treaties to improve its efficiency, decision-making, and democratic legitimacy. Signed in 2007 and ratified in 2009, it streamlined Eurozone governance, expanded the powers of the European Parliament, and enhanced the Union's ability to act quickly during crises. The treaty also gave national governments more say in certain areas and introduced a permanent President of the European Council to provide consistent leadership. Overall, it aimed to make the EU more coherent, transparent, and better equipped to address global challenges.
