Tornado classifications

Tornado classifications are based on their strength, measured mainly by the Enhanced Fujita (EF) scale. The EF scale ranges from EF0 to EF5: EF0 and EF1 are weaker, causing some damage like tree branches or minor roof damage. EF2 and EF3 are stronger, capable of destroying roofs, vehicles, or mobile homes. EF4 and EF5 are the most destructive, causing severe damage or total destruction of buildings and infrastructure. This scale helps gauge the potential danger and likely damage of a tornado, guiding safety responses and informing the public of its severity.
