Tongue-tied
Tongue-tied, medically known as ankyloglossia, is a condition where the frenulum—the small fold of tissue connecting the underside of the tongue to the floor of the mouth—is unusually short or tight. This restricts the tongue's movement, which can affect speech, eating, or breastfeeding. It varies in severity; some people may barely notice it, while others experience difficulty with certain motions. Treatment is often straightforward and may involve a simple procedure called a frenotomy to release the restriction, improving tongue mobility and function.
