Tokyo Trials

The Tokyo Trials, officially the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, were held from 1946 to 1948 to prosecute Japanese leaders responsible for war crimes during World War II. Organized by Allied powers, primarily the US, UK, Soviet Union, and China, the tribunal aimed to provide justice for atrocities committed in Asia, including the Nanjing Massacre and mistreatment of prisoners. Key figures, such as wartime government and military officials, were tried for crimes against peace, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. The trials established important legal precedents and marked a significant step in international criminal justice.
